A discussion on Kapilvastu day was held at Cafe Kathmandu, Vancouver. The topics focused sharing what was known about Buddha and Kapilvastu, the Indian viewpoint and the world’s perception about Buddha and Nepal as the Buddha’s birthplace. The meeting lasted an hour and half and came to the following conclusion:
1. Buddha could be one among many focal points of Nepali national unity and the symbol transcends politics and ethnicity.
2. Kapilvastu day should be an apolitical event and care should betaken that the issue remains unpoliticized throughout.
3. A research was needed to be done on Buddha and Kapilvastu and results compiled into an accessible form, perhaps a webpage.
4. The initiation of Kapilvastu day has to be done through interested individuals through the world.
5. There is a need for a non-profit organization to take the lead and organize all Kapilvastu day enthusiasts into one entity so that all efforts are consolidated.
The action plan of the meeting follows:
1. Distribute flyers in monasteries around Vancouver to increase awareness.
2. Volunteering for a house party on Buddha Jayanti and persuading others to do the same.
3. Persuade local community bodies to include a speech contest on Buddha and Kapilvastu on every New Year party program.
4. Celebrate Dec 1 by creating awareness among friends and with a Deepavali at homes.
5. The initiation and celebration of Kapilvastu day could also be organized collaboratively through interested diasporic individuals and organisations throughout the world.
6. Be a part of the Kapilvastu day facebook page.
Abi Sharma and Sanjaya Regmi played important role for making the programme a success.

This is a selfmotivated program organised after long discussion between different people via different online medias and famous social sites to eliminate the illusion to the world over Nepal Born Lord Buddha, from the people who are being misinformed by Indian travel blogs, their medias, writers and film producers. Of course this is the program to send the peace message to the world via internet from the people of Lord Buddha’s country.Posted in Article | 1 Comment »

This is the proper time to say with pride that Buddha was born in Nepal not in India. Truth cannot
be changed. But, the India is trying to create an illusion that the Lord Buddha was born in India. Released about a year ago, an Indian movie “Chandani Chok to China” has focused on the same illusion in that story. The movie was banned in Nepal with the pressure of some political parties and the outburst of the people. Finally, as a result of pressure, the Indian film producer has apologized on his wrong doing in the movie.
After that, few months ago, some news medias have highlighted a news about India is building a replica of Kapilvastu, Lumbini (birthplace of Buddha) at Piparhawa, state of Uttar prades of India. It shows the real intention of India, time and again, to make vague propaganda on the matter of Buddha’s birth place. Read the rest of this entry »

Read the rest of this entry »

The Lord of Salvation
By Madhav Prasad Upadhyaya
KAPILVASTU – 26 km. to the West of Lumbini, the birth place of Lord Buddha – and approximately 12 km. to the South of the East-West highway, and 19 km. to the North of the Indian border check post, Khunuwa, is proved, by several Buddhist scholars, to have been the Shakya Kingdom where King Suddodhana, father of Lord Buddha, reigned, 2600 years ago.
Suddodhana, the Shakya King, represented the Shakya dynasty of Kshetriya solar race who remained at the throne of the tiny Kingdom, Kapilvastu, lying in Nepal’s mid-western terai (plane), bordering India. Maya Devi, the queen of Suddodhana gave birth to the child Siddharta Gautam (Lord Buddha) in the Lumbini garden under the big sal tree in full moon day of May while traveling to her parent’s home. The child was called Siddhartha, Gautam being his family name. Born in 623 B.C. as scholars opine, Siddhartha renounced his Kingdom and the city state of Kapilvastu at the age of 30 and pursued enlightenment. Read the rest of this entry »

Read the rest of this entry »

Read the rest of this entry »
